Description

These old buildings are located on Highway 290 between Brenham and Chappell Hill, Texas. Some people refer to it as the "ghost town" of Chappell Hill. I did some research on the internet and learned it really isn't a "ghost town".

A man by the name of Ray Winkelmann moved several old buildings to the property back in the late 70's/early 80's from different parts of Texas. His dream was to create a small tourist area where people could come and eat, shop, etc. However, the residents of Chappell Hill were not happy with Mr. Winkelmann and basically ran him off and the place never took off. The property was eventually sold but the buildings still sit on the property empty...well except for a few squatters. :-)

Anyway, I still found the buildings to be very interesting and created a painterly version to give it more of a ghostly feel and mood.
