This photo was taken in the Galveston Island West Bay area. The greater yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) is a large North American shorebird, similar in appearance to the smaller lesser yellowlegs. I first thought this was the smaller lesser yellowlegs but upon closer look at the bill, I believe it to be the greater yellowlegs. It's very difficult to distinguish the two.
