Pitcher and washbowl, also known as pitcher and basin sets, were essential bedroom accessories throughout the Victorian era until affordable indoor plumbing was available to the masses. Used to perform daily personal hygiene tasks, the sets were placed on wooden washstands which frequently matched bedroom furniture.
