Description
One of the many beautiful views taken from the top of Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The ultra-prominent 14,115-foot fourteener is located in Pike National Forest, 12.0 miles west by south of downtown Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike who was unable to reach the summit. The summit is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude.
