Description
Big Bend National Park, Texas
The Sotol Vista Overlook in Big Bend is located along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. From this amazing vantage point, you can see many different views of Big Bend National Park. You can stand in one point and rotate 360 degrees to see the vast desert landscape. On this day, the clouds in the sky were awesome - God's own work, of course.
The tall spiked plants in the image are from the Sotol plant which is native to arid environments of northern Mexico, in the Chihuahua and Sonora deserts and in the southwestern United States. The alcoholic drink sotol, the northern cousin to tequila and mezcal, is made from the fermented inner cores of the desert spoon.
